Community Service Projects
HUGS is always grateful to companies and community groups that perform service projects at our HUGS house. Past projects have ranged from painting, refreshing the kitchen, light landscaping, and cleaning and maintaining the outdoor playground equipment, to building a storage shed.
Family Events
HUGS hosts monthly Family Dinners at our HUGS house or in the West Oahu community. These dinners are often sponsored by companies or community and service groups, and we are grateful for the generous support. Sponsorship of a family dinner includes serving a delicious and nourishing meal for about 100 HUGS family members, providing entertainment and activities such as crafts and games for the children, as well as providing the volunteers to make it all happen.
Family dinners provide an opportunity for new HUGS families to meet "experienced" families in a relaxed and supportive setting. Families are able to enjoy fellowship and gain support and insight from one another who understand the struggles and challenges they all are going through with caring for a seriously ill child. Children are able to play together.
More importantly, family dinner sponsors also enjoy being a part of the event, seeing firsthand how their support is making a difference and bringing joy to our HUGS children and their families.
