HONOLULU – HUGS (Help Understanding & Group Support), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Hawaii’s families with seriously ill children will hold their 4th Annual “Paddle for HUGS” Pickleball Tournament presented by Arrillaga Foundation on November 7, 2026. Last year’s event raised over $55,000 for HUGS. This year the tournament moves to new venue, partnering with Pickles at Forté, Hawaii’s only indoor pickleball club.
"The incredible support we've received over the past three years has helped Paddle for HUGS become one of our signature community events,” said Maureen Purington, HUGS Executive Director. "We're excited to bring this year's tournament to Pickles at Forté, where players can enjoy Hawaiʻi's premier indoor pickleball experience while helping provide hope, comfort, and critical support to local families caring for a seriously ill child."
Players will compete in an unsanctioned mixed doubles, round-robin tournament open to ages 13 and older and welcoming all skill levels. Medals will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place winners in each bracket.
In addition to the tournament, there will be a live performance by ukulele artist and owner of Ukulele Hale, Jody Kamisato. And a special pickleball exhibition by Pickleball Pro Keven Wong, who put on an amazing show for the last two years including hitting pickleballs with various kitchen items. I’m excited for our 4th Annual Paddle for HUGS tournament,” said Keven Wong. “It’s a great event not only to raise money for the organization but to bring awareness to HUGS and all that they provide for these families. I’m blessed to be a part of it and can’t wait to see everyone wearing pink on November 7th at Pickles at Forté!”
Player registration is just $70.00 and net proceeds will help support Hawaii’s seriously ill children and their families who are part of the HUGS organization. The Arrillaga Foundation is once again returning as the Title Sponsor. Jamba Hawaii is also partnering again with HUGS and will be providing free smoothies to all the players.
HUGS supports over 400 families statewide and provides peer support programs for each member of the family and financial assistance including monthly food baskets and airfare assistance.
