HUGS Hosts Western-Themed Gala on May 24, 2025 “Giddy Up for HUGS” at the Ko‘olau Grand Ballroom
April 16, 2025
HONOLULU – HUGS (Help Understanding & Group Support), a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Hawaii’s families with seriously ill children, will host its annual gala and largest fundraiser of the year on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Ko‘olau Grand Ballroom in Kaneohe.
The western-themed gala, called “Giddy Up for HUGS” will honor Locations Foundation for their commitment to HUGS and the broader community. Since 2005, Locations Foundation has been the proud sponsor of the HUGS Celebration of Life, an annual memorial event that pays tribute to HUGS children who have passed away. In a moving gesture of remembrance, a tree is planted for each child at the HUGS Memorial Garden at Sunset Ranch Hawaii on Oahu’s North Shore.
"HUGS' Celebration of Life holds a special place in the hearts of our Locations Foundation volunteers,” said Kristin Mukai, Locations Hawaii Realtor and Partner and President of the Locations Foundation. “It's a day of reflection, healing and togetherness that we're proud to be part of. The event has a deep impact on everyone involved, and many of our volunteers return to help year after year. We're honored to stand in solidarity with HUGS families during their healing journey, and we remain committed to supporting HUGS and its mission in any way we can. Mahalo for the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful cause and for recognizing the work of the Locations Foundation."
The Giddy Up for HUGS Gala begins at 5:30 p.m. and will feature a buffet dinner and bar stations, a silent auction, drawings and giveaways, entertainment by New Hope Oahu who will perform popular country/western hits, and more. This year will also mark HUGS’ 43rd anniversary of supporting Hawaii’s seriously ill children and their families.
“All HUGS programs and services are offered free of charge to the families we serve,” said Maureen Purington, HUGS Executive Director. “Thanks to the generosity of our donors and dedicated partners like Locations Foundation, we are able to offer comprehensive support to every family member – ensuring no one has to face their journey alone.”
Table sponsorships are available at the following levels:
• $10,000 – Gold Sponsor
• $7,500 – Silver Sponsor
• $5,000 – Bronze Sponsor
Individual tickets are also available to the general public for $225 per person. Proceeds from the evening will directly benefit HUGS families across Hawaii.
